10 Ways to Breathe Creativity into a Clogged Spirit

Any time the way things are right now are not the way they should be, we experience tension. This tension is an inevitable and necessary part of life. Without it, you would never have reason to initiate change. You would have no motivation to pursue any worthwhile goal.

What we call ‘negative energy’ is really nothing more than blocked creativity.

As soon as you recognize the need for change, you feel tension. You experience frustration, longing, expectancy and yearning. You want the end-goal to be the reality but you’re not there yet, and one thing you know is you don’t want to be here.

What blocks the creativity from flowing? What causes the fruitful, motivating tension to manifest as nervous, stressful tension?

The same things that block creativity on the negative side, get creativity flowing again on the positive side.

10 ways to breathe creativity into a clogged spirit

Reach out: Don’t think you have to do it all yourself; reach out for help to get you unstuck.

Think out of the box: Brainstorm by yourself and with other people to think of new ideas. Don’t keep doing the same thing that didn’t work before. Maybe that way works for someone else but not for you. There’s always more than one way to get there.

Do it now and save it for later: Find some aspect of your dream that you can do today, so you can keep yourself motivated and feel the presence of your dream more tangibly. At the same time, take one small step towards actualizing your dream. These two actions might entail doing the same thing. But then again, they may not.

Be patient: Know that anything worthwhile takes time.

Allow yourself to be guided by life: Don’t try to control the process. Have the goal in mind and visualize it clearly, then let it go. Don’t try to force the outcome but just do what seems the outcome seems to call for you to do right now.

Be open and be flexible: Open up your mind to whatever life brings you to see how even difficult experiences can serve to enrich you and further your goals, even if they seem like diversions.

Be curious: Pay attention to what’s happening all around you. Be on the lookout for people who share your dream and join with them.

Have humility: See yourself objectively, as if you’re someone else looking at you from the outside, without the slightest interest in needing to be right or make a positive impression.

Learn from your mistakes. Don’t just say yeah, I know, I have to learn from my mistakes. Evaluate your behavior, using your best judgment about what changes are needed. Look to see exactly what went wrong and figure out what you can learn from it for next time. Plan strategies for things you expect will trip you up.

Give yourself lots of positive affirmation along the way; be your own best friend.

Turn tension into intention, and stress will naturally transform itself to creative energy.
