After present-moment awareness, the second stage of logodrama is engagement.
In this stage you are ready to engage in dialogue with whatever “entity” whose presence you have just now felt.
Perhaps you’ve noticed a discomfort or habitual or movement in your body. Perhaps you’ve become aware of an emotion. You can locate and identify these. Alternatively, you might give a name to a way you’re experiencing life: the burden, the hamster-wheel or the magnet. You may have sensed a familiar person, a character from a book or an imaginary figure. An aspect of self might come to mind: the wise person within, the critic, the people-pleaser, etc.
Whomever or whatever you want to address, you figuratively invite to sit on the chair next to you so that you can talk to it/him/her:
You enter into dialogue with this entity, expressing your thoughts and feelings, and asking questions. You exchange places so that you become that entity, and respond. You carry on a dialogue in this way, back and forth.
Upon entering this dialogue, several things happen.
- You are challenged and provoked by this entity
- You challenge and provoke this entity
- You become aware of which aspect of self is operating in you. This aspect of self or entity has “something to say” to you. What message does this entity have for you?
- What does this message mean to you? – In the process of answering and questioning you’re forced to clarify your values.
- By shifting between several entities, you expand your perspective and hear various aspects of truth filtering through each of them.
