Since life is much sweeter when you possess kindness, courage, patience, intentionality, compassion, conscience, presence, inner wisdom and all the other human qualities, it turns out that in even the most difficult situations, there’s much more that is possible than what is not.
To see what’s possible it’s not enough to only see reality as it is or to only imagine reality as it can be. For positive change to happen, both seeing what’s real and imagining what’s possible are required.
If you ignore reality you’ll have ridiculous expectations. If you don’t use your imagination, you won’t be able to create anything new.
If you are religiously inclined, you can think of the divine creation of the world as a model for human creativity. God first imagined what an ideal reality would look like and then created it
However, God didn’t create human beings as automatons who would only act according to His will and ideal picture of reality, where individuals and families and nations are at peace. He gave them the choice to act against His ideal picture of reality, and that’s the real world we’re living in..
But God gave us the capacity for choice because through human choice, God provided a space for us to take His imagination and run with it.
Nature is the canvass on which to paint. If you can imagine what beautiful things can be created with nature, you can create them.
If you can imagine how the person facing you is feeling, you can create a connection. Even if you don’t fully understand, your attempt to imagine what it’s like for him or her will be picked up, and this is still valuable.
