How do you decide which friend to turn to when you’re feeling emotionally or spiritually blocked?
The most helpful person will be one who knows how to see the world through your eyes and at the same time can help you see from a different vantage point.
A friend who can get into your shoes together with you creates the sense that you’re not alone in your experience and you’re also not alone in the journey. The one accompanying you is not sitting on a mountaintop way over there but is guiding you from where you are now. This creates trust and builds confidence.
A true guide also does not show you a vantage point that is foreign to your path but helps you find the path that is right for you.
A guide sees the world as it is and imagines it as it can be, sees the world as you see it now and imagines how you want to see it, and then faces the unknown path and journeys it together with you.
